Welcome!

Runners and Asha Volunteers,

Welcome to Team Asha Houston. This blog is for runners registered for one of the races in the Chevron Houston Marathon 2010, as well as for Asha Houston volunteers. This blog is primarily a means of communication for Asha volunteers and the runners who have registered as Asha fundraisers or donors. You can post messages about meetings, looking for running partners, training and fundraising tips, questions, and achievements.

Other runners are also welcome to post comments, and ask or answer questions.

This year is an exciting year for Asha for Education's Houston Chapter - this is the first year that Asha is being listed as an official charity at the Chevron Houston Marathon. This is a great avenue to raise awareness about Asha‘s mission of reaching out to the underprivileged children in India and providing them with basic education. The funds you help raise through the Chevron Houston Marathon’s Run for a Reason program will help Asha continue its support for the following projects: SACSAS (Save Children, Save Society) in Manipur, SUKRUPA in Bangalore, BUILD in Chennai and Project NELSON in Cuddalore.

All Asha projects are driven by the initiative and the dedication of hundreds of volunteers, fundraisers, and donors, and have zero overheads making it possible to channel funds directly to the projects. Your support and contributions have helped Asha raise over $5,500 through the marathon's Run for a Reason program. Your continued support is invaluable in achieving our goal of raising $20,000 .

Again, Welcome to Team Asha Houston, and enjoy your running!
